The Second International Youth Forum on Soil and Water Conservation and ICCE symposium 2018

Climate Change Impact on Sediment Dynamics: Measurement, Modelling and Management

August 27 – 31, 2018, Moscow, Russia

Registration and abstract submission for the ‘Second International Young Scientists Forum on Soil and Water Conservation’(2nd IYFSWC) and  the ICCE Symposium are now open.  Both events will take place from 27 to 31 August 2018 in Moscow, Russia.

2nd IYFSWC will address:

• Challenges/actions of soil and water management in the changing world

• Mechanism/processes and modelling of soil degradation

• Innovation of technology of soil and water conservation

• Ecological restoration and regional sustainable development

• The roles of Young Scientists in soil and water conservation.

ICCE Symposium entitled ‘Climate Change Impacts on Sediment Dynamics: Measurement, Modelling and Management’will focus on:

• Climate change and human impacts as a drivers of erosion, sediment dynamics, and river morphology transformation

• The influence of climate change on water quality and drinking water treatment and supply

• Erosion and sediment transport models and river basin management tools.

Special training course for young scientists ‘Water-related natural hazards: measurement and modelling’will provide a unique series of workshops and seminars on novel techniques and modelling systems in soil erosion and sediment transport. Participants will obtain an official internationally-recognized diploma of Moscow State University (16 ECTS points). Please register separately at: http://www.eng.geogr.msu.ru/IYFSWC/training/

We encourage the international community to participate in this event and contribute to its results and success; young researchers are especially encouraged to join the discussion. All authors are welcome to submit a full paper (extended abstract) to a Special Issue of PIAHS, the Proceedings journal of IAHS: https://www.proc-iahs.net/

After the Conference all accepted abstracts of conference participants will be published in a special Springer Proceedings volume.

Moreover, The World Association of Soil and Water Conservation (WASWAC) will select 10 papers for the ‘Outstanding Youth Paper Award’from the presentations submitted by Young Scientists (who are 40 years old or less by the end of 2018). These papers will be submitted to the WASWAC  journal ‘International Soil and Water Conservation Research.’ Each awardee will win a $1000 (USD) prize and may also have a reduction of expenses during the Forum. The competition is open for all conference participants.

More information about registration and the submission of abstracts is available on the symposium website: http://www.eng.geogr.msu.ru/IYFSWC/
