The International Union of Soil Science (IUSS) will celebrate its foundation centennial in 2024 in cooperation with the Italian Society of the Soil Science (SISS). The event will empower the linkages with different disciplines, policy makers, stakeholders, institutions, and associations to effectively address civil society needs within agriculture, forestry, environment, urban planning, energy, education, and other societal issues. The celebration will occur on May 19th and will be followed by two days of congress, with plenary and parallel scientific sessions. Both soil scientists and specialists from other disciplines will participate to each session, focusing on past achievements and future challenges. The congress will be followed by technical/scientific excursions that will range from short local to long trips, spanning from Alps to Sicily. A pre-congress visit to Villa Lubin in Rome, the historical place where the IUSS was founded, is scheduled on 18 May.

 

The call for session is already open (https://centennialiuss2024.org/) and welcomes the proposals of scientists of all the disciplines that collaborate with soil sciences.

The Rhizosphere International Steering Committee is pleased to announce that Rhizosphere 6 will be held at the Nanjing International Expo Center in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China in August 2023 (tentatively August 13-18). The meeting is being co-chaired by Drs. Weiming Shi (Institute of Soil Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nanjing) and Xinhua He (Southwest University, Chongqing).

 A special message from Drs. Shi and He for the potential Rhizosphere 6 attendees:

"We look forward to seeing you in Nanjing, China in 2023 for enhancing Rhizosphere studies and Sino-international friendships".

More information on the next conference will be sent out by the Rhizosphere 6 organizing committee in early 2020!
